Like the last 2 weeks there were 8 Principal Council By-Elections to report on this week with only 1 without Liberal Democrats representation. However there are only 8 because the 9th scheduled for this week as the seat of Haseley Brook in South Oxfordshire was uncontested with the Conservatives.

In Lower Sheering (Epping Forest) Ingrid Black took 19.1% of the vote for the Liberal Democrats in a seat that wasn’t fought last time while the Conservatives held their seat.

In Meopham North (Gravesham) John Death took 17% of the vote for the Liberal Democrats to finish 2nd in a seat that wasn’t fought last time while the Conservatives held their seat.

In Astley Mosley Common (Wigan) Stuart Thomas took 4.3% of the vote for the Liberal Democrats in a seat that wasn’t fought last time while Labour held their seat.

In Bestwood (Nottingham UA) Christina Morgan-Danvers took 2.7% of the vote for the Liberal Democrats in a seat that wasn’t fought last time while Labour held their seat.

In Basford (Nottingham UA) Rebecca Procter took 2.4% of the vote for the Liberal Democrats in a seat that wasn’t fought last time while Labour held their seat.

In Carholme (Lincoln) James Brown took 5.6% of the vote for the Liberal Democrats, down 2.9 points while Labour held their seat.

In Bulwell Forest (Nottingham UA) Callum Southern took 1.2% of the vote for the Liberal Democrats, down 3.1 points while Labour held their seat.

Full details of last nights By-Election results can be found on the ALDC’s By-Election Results page and details of that is coming next on our Forthcoming Elections page. Hat Tip to Britain Elects for their results too.

Well done to all who stood last night regardless of the result. It is really important that we stand candidates in all by-elections in order to build the habit of voting Liberal Democrat. If there is no candidate of ours on the ballot paper we are depriving someone of their ability to vote for us. If you are interested in standing as a candidate please get in touch with your Local Party or ALDC.
