This week there are 2 Principal Council By-Elections to report on and while the Liberal Democrats will want to carry on their winning ways after a clean sweep last week they are only standing in 1 of the 2 elections so no chance of a clean sweep again.

First up though, the 1 by-election the Liberal Democrats were contesting…

Congratulations to Caroline Leaver and the team in Newport (North Devon DC) who has gained the seat from the Conservatives for the Liberal Democrats. Caroline increased the Liberal Democrats’ vote share by 7.1 points up to 38.8% of the vote.

In Enfield Highway (Enfield LB) there was no candidate for the Liberal Democrats as Labour easily held their hovering up most of the missing UKIP and BNP vote along with a chunk of the Greens votes.

Full details of last nights By-Election results can be found on the ALDC’s By-Election Results page and details of that is coming next on our Forthcoming Elections page. Hat Tip to Britain Elects for their results too.

Well done to all who stood last night regardless of the result. It is really important that we stand candidates in all by-elections in order to build the habit of voting Liberal Democrat. If there is no candidate of ours on the ballot paper we are depriving someone of their ability to vote for us. If you are interested in standing as a candidate please get in touch with your Local Party or ALDC.
